Meet the Read Between the Lynes Staff

ARLENE Born and raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey, I still consider myself a "Jersey Girl", even though I have not lived in the state for 25 years! I moved to Woodstock, IL in 1997 with my husband Keith and our three children and we are thrilled to call Woodstock home. I love to read and one of my favorite pastimes has been visiting bookstores. I feel truly blessed to have brought Read Between the Lynes to the Woodstock Square to share my love of literature with the community.

LESLIE A retired teacher, Leslie un-retired after two weeks and joined the RBTL staff on opening day. Seven years later, she’s still enjoying the customer contact…especially the kids, and the occasional dog. An avid and constant reader, Leslie can offer great book advice for any customer. And if you’re looking for a particular title, she’ll find it for you…whether we have it in stock or not. Leslie lives in Woodstock with her husband Larry. She brings him self-improvement books, but he says you can’t improve on perfection.

SHAWN Born and raised in Illinois, I've lived the last seven years in Woodstock with my wife and two children. After working for many years for police departments, I decided to become a stay-at-home dad. I've always been an avid reader and writer and when I'm not taking care of the kids, reading, writing, working or working on my house, I enjoy biking and watching movies. While I love fantasy, I read a wide range of genre fiction or as I tell people, I tend to read books from the front half of the bookstore.

ALISON A voracious reader and occasional writer, Alison first had the pleasure of working for Arlene at Read Between the Lynes in 2005, when she was barely out of high school. Seven years later, Alison is back at the local bookstore and happy to offer reading suggestions. (With a bachelor’s in English literature and a master’s in library and information science, she figures she can prescribe books like a doctor prescribes medicine.) In her free time, she builds libraries in Minecraft and shows them off to her fiancé, who is incredibly tolerable of her gaming ineptitude.

from Minnesota, I traveled over fourteen hours to arrive at my new forever home
in Woodstock, IL. It was explained to me
on my very first day that I would be the new mascot for Read Between the
Lynes.
